LAND OF THE LIVING SKIES

The wheat province

Saskatchewan is located in the heart of the Canadian Prairies, bounded by Alberta to the west and Manitoba to the east. It is a largely rural province with a rich history of uranium and potash mining, agriculture and forestry.

The Saskatchewan provincial capital is in Regina. One of Regina's most prominent features is the Wascana Centre, one of the largest urban parks on the continent. The Saskatchewan Provincial Legislative Building is also impressive, with its imposing stature looming over the Wascana Centre.

Once outside of the capital, hike in beautiful Prince Albert National Park and then travel north to La Ronge to witness true scenic splendour. Take a tour of Saskatoon - the lovely "City of Bridges." While there, be sure to visit the Wanuskewin Heritage Park and the fascinating Western Development Museum/1910 Boomtown. Moose Jaw, Swift Current and Prince Albert all have their own unique contributions to the province and offer a variety of attractions and activities.

Saskatchewan has an area of 588,276.09 square kilometres and a population of 1,034,974, mostly living in the southern half of the province. Of these, 233,923 live in the province's largest city, Saskatoon, while 194,971 live in the provincial capital, Regina.
